Anna Yackle, Public Library Liaison for the North Suburban Library System (NSLS), is champion and project coordinator for public library trustee training and development. Board Briefs is an innovative project providing essential training to library trustees while eliminating barriers of time and travel. Distributed as a DVD to Illinois public libraries for use at board meetings, NSLS has provided online access to these valuable training sessions.

Illinois Open Meetings Act

Public library trustees are legally obligated to follow this act and to perform steps to ensure their meetings are open to the public. the rules and procedures of and exceptions to this act are outlined and discussed.

Model Ethics Ordinance

Illinois public library trustees are held legally responsible for their behavior and ethics. Trustees should not use their official powers to solicit gifts, award jobs or favors, or unduly influence the votes or actions of others.
