Description:

This course will help you to understand the budget process and the components that make up a library's budget.

This tutorial and its two companion courses (Understanding Budgets and Financial Management) will take the mystique out of budgeting and put you in control of the budget.

Objectives

By completing this course, you will learn about:

  • budget components (personnel, materials, operations, internal, and capital)
  • forecasting and analysis
  • budget preparation and presentation
  • public hearings and budget adoption
  • the budget cycle
  • budget revision (cuts and increases)
  • the revision process

Structure

The course addresses these issues and more in a web-based course designed to take about 1 1/2 hours to complete. It contains multimedia elements, external links, pre- and post-tests, and course evaluation modules.
