CIPA and Filtering
What does it mean for my library? On June 23, 2003, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) that requires public libraries to put anti-pornography Internet filters on their computers or lose federal funding. The court, in a 6-3 decision, ruled that CIPA does not violate the First Amendment.
