Staff Training in Libraries: 2007 Fact Sheets The WebJunction Staff Training in Libraries: 2007 Fact Sheets provide insights into how public and academic libraries support, deliver and evaluate staff training programs. These fact
sheets represent data collected from over 300 public and academic libraries that were randomly selected to participate in
a Web-based survey from May 15 to July 1, 2007. Highlights include key findings on how staff training is provided in terms
of training formats, return on investment, performance and dollars spent.
Rural In Focus Webinar: Board Challenges and Successes WebJunction and The Association for Rural and Small Libraries will present on March 6 a free hour-long webinar a topic important to sustaining rural and small libraries, but open to everyone. Join Ellen Miller and Carla Kaiser of Basehor Community Library (KS) as they share tips on working with your rural and small library board.
They will discuss challenges, successes, and be available for your questions. Registration for this webinar is optional. To

Is the symbol ∑ Greek to you? Take one of our popular Excel course(Excel 2002, 2003 and 2007) and you’ll see it in a whole new way! In each course, a set of modules uses Flash and audio to provide animated, interactive
lesson introductions, activities, and simulations to show learners how to enter and edit cell data, select cell ranges, format
worksheet data and complete basic calculations and formulas. For March these courses are discounted at $10—less than half
price. If you're in a WebJunction community partner state, these courses are free, thanks to your state's subscription.
Diversity Fair Scholarship for ALA Annual 2008 WebJunction is awarding two scholarships, one for a past workshop participant and another for a state trainer from the Spanish
Language Outreach Program to attend the OLOS Diversity Fair at the American Library Association Annual Conference in June. Scholarship applicants will be selected based on the impact
of the outreach activities they have implemented following their participation in the SLO program. Read last year's winning outreach activity. Check out more scholarship details and the scholarship application.
Communities of the Month: Arizona and New Hampshire Both WebJunction Arizona and WebJunction New Hampshire are finding creative ways to meet the continuing education needs of librarians in their states. WJ-AZ customized their Courses page to include links to SOL, Knowledge River, and more. WJ-NH built a center section to communicate course enrollment policies with their members and features online courses as an alternative to face-to-face
training during the winter months.
In Depth Webinar: Strategies for the Health Reference Interview with Spanish Speakers Join us for the SLO In Depth Webinar on March 11. Listen to Cathy Jacobus and Sol Gomez from Pima County Library share tips and best practices for conducting
