A Support Community for Children's Librarians
There are hundreds of WebJunction members whose primary role is children's librarianship or youth services, a number of whom have helped build a section for Services to Children. You'll find dozen of documents and a discussion board for exchange of news and ideas, and you are welcome to add your own resources to this knowledge base. Also, the Course Catalog offers seven courses that focus on children's services. Plus, this month we're hosting two free webinars on specific examples of successful library programs for children:

Staff Training Needs in the Coming Year We are keenly aware of the tough economic situation and its potentially devastating impact on library budgets. In service to our mission to provide library staff access to the knowledge, skills and support we need to power relevant, vibrant libraries, we are reaching out to libraries to learn about their staff training needs for the coming year—and the challenges they face in meeting those needs. This information will help us focus our efforts to deliver the most relevant content and services for today's libraries, and to develop partnerships with organizations to provide staff with essential training. If your library would like to discuss how WebJunction can help you meet your staff training goals even in tough times, please contact us at info@webjunction, and we'll give you a call. |
Member Center Reorganization Is Underway As a follow-on to the results of our most recent member survey, we are making improvements to the organization of content and pages on WebJunction.org. Last month, we streamlined the Social Networking & Web Tools section. This month we have been working on the Member Center, to make it a place for new users to get acquainted with WebJunction and the member community, and to get quick answers to technical questions about the site. You can take a look at what we've done so far, and please feel free to provide suggestions for further improvements.
