Digital Branches and Virtual Reference Expand Library Service
A digital branch or reference service brings human interaction to the computer environment, so that patrons can get information and answers from library staff via digital communication tools such as email, chat, IM, and live online events. Visit the Virtual Reference section on WebJunction to read foundational research on this trend. And to learn more about digital branches, read this chapter by David Lee King.

Exciting Changes Coming to TechAtlas WebJunction brings libraries free access to the TechAtlas for Libraries tools which help with technology planning and the management of technology resources. Currently, the TechAtlas tools are accessed through a separate website, but in early October we're going to be moving these tools so that our users can access them directly through WebJunction. Users will just need one member account for both resources, and will find all of the valuable WebJunction resources in one place. More details will be sent via email messages to our TechAtlas users and will be posted to WebJunction in the next few weeks.
