Networking Your Library's Computers
The rapid pace of development makes maintaining a library computer network a highwire balancing act. So this month we're talking about setup, management, and troubleshooting of computer networks in a single library or across multiple branches. Use the Technology Systems & IT section of the Competencies to find Networking learning resources, which range from an overview of networking components and architecture, to specific tips for fixing a lost Internet connection, to setting up Wi-Fi.
What Are Your Networking Issues? We'll be hosting a live conversation on December 2 to answer your burning questions about library networking. The subject is wide ranging, so let us know what you are most interested in by taking this quick poll. Then post your specific questions to this discussion thread or as a comment on BlogJunction.
A Guide to Networking Resources Use the pathfinders on the Networking page and the Wireless Networking page as a guide to documents, discussions, and archived presentations that cover everything from assessing your building's readiness for Wi-Fi, to using your bandwidth efficiently, to networking all the branches in your library system.
