H1N1 Flu Outbreak Contingency Plan 2009
The library is staffed with two full time and two part time (20 hrs. per week) staff members, and normally provides library services 41 hours per week.
The Seagoville Public Library has developed a Four phase Plan to prepare for an H1N1 outbreak.
Phase I – Mitigation
O Boxes of tissues liberally and strategically placed throughout the library for use by patrons and staff.
O Pump bottles of hand sanitizer with at least 60% ethyl alcohol strategically and liberally placed throughout the library for use by patrons and staff.
O Sanitizing Wipes strategically and liberally placed throughout the library for use by patrons and staff.
O Sanitizing public areas two times per day.
Phase II – Staff Illness – Minor Staff Reduction
In the event that one part time person becomes ill, the library will continue to serve the community at the current level of service.
In the event that one full time person becomes ill, the library will continue to serve the community at the current level of service.
Both scenarios above can feasibly be maintained for the duration of 10-14 days.
If the duration extends beyond that time frame Phase III may be sanctioned.
Phase III – Staff Illness – Major Staff Reduction
In the event that the library staff is reduced by half or a minor staff reduction occurs for an extended period of time (10-14 days), the Library Director may authorize reducing the hours of service, based on the following contingent schedule.

Phase IV – Staff Illness –Catastrophic Staff Reduction
In the event that the library staff is reduced to one person, or if a major staff reduction occurs for an extended period of time, the Library Director may authorize further reduction of library service hours, and reduce the level of service available to patrons visiting the library. Service reduction may include suspension of reference services, computer assistance, reader advisories, Interlibrary Loans, fine and overdue notices. No new cards will be issued, no patrons records will be accessed without presented borrower cards, etc. Patrons will be served at the level the remaining staff member deems possible.
