CAA - Chicago Area Archivists

Since 1982, the Chicago Area Archivists has worked to provide opportunities for local archivists, historians, librarians and others in the Chicago metro area to meet together for discussion, social interaction, and education. Our 175+ members include archivists, librarians, and records managers in academic, corporate, governmental, institutional, library, and museum settings.

CARLI - Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois [Directories: Staff & Officers | Members]

CARLI began operating on July 1, 2005, culminating several years of discussion and planning. CARLI was formed by consolidating three existing Illinois academic library consortia: the Illinois Cooperative Collection Management Program (ICCMP), the Illinois Digital Academic Library (IDAL), and the Illinois Library Computer Systems Organization (ILCSO). CARLI was formed to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of services, increase the effectiveness of consortial and member library staff efforts, and create opportunities to pursue new programs and services that the three constituent consortia would not have been able to provide on their own.

CALL - Chicago Association of Law Librarians

The Chicago Association of Law Libraries (CALL) is a non-profit organization comprised of law librarians and other information professionals in the greater Chicago area. It was formed as a chapter of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) in 1947 to promote librarianship and information services, to develop and increase the usefulness of law libraries and to foster a spirit of cooperation among the members of the profession.

CASL - Chicago Area Solo Librarians

This group of solo librarians in the Chicago area formed in 2001. Solo library professionals work in all types of libraries: law firms and medical libraries, school and academic libraries, advertising agencies and corporate libraries. They have chosen the Rook, the "castle piece" of a chess game, at left, as their symbol, to illustrate the belief that a solo librarian finds a true "fortress of support" by both problem-sharing and problem-solving with a network of colleagues. Solos can then set forth in a strategically stronger place to develop their libraries and services for their users.

 HSLI - Health Science Librarians of Illinois

Health Science Librarians of Illinois (HSLI) serves as the primary statewide organization meeting the needs and interests of all information professionals who focus on the area of health and medical science.

IACRL - Illinois Association of College and Research Libraries

IACRL promotes the interests of academic libraries and the personnel of those libraries, enhances the abilities of academic library personnel to identify and meet the information needs of current and potential library users, and develops and promotes leadership to the academic library community. 

IAECT - Illinois Association for Educational Communication and Technology

The Illinois Association for Educational Communications and Technology ( IAECT ) is dedicated to the improvement of teaching and learning through the effective use of media, technology, and telecommunications.

ILA - Illinois Library Association [Directories: Staff | Members (requires member login)]

The Illinois Library Association is the voice for Illinois Libraries and the millions who depend on them. It provides leadership for the development, promotion, and improvement of library services in Illinois and for the library community, in order to enhance learning and ensure access for all. Its primary goals are: advocating for the public interest, promoting excellence, managing the present to prepare for the future.

ILSDO - Illinois Library Systems

Illinois Library Systems take a leadership role in promoting a future where seamless library service is easily available to Illinois residents anytime anywhere. Systems facilitate sharing of resources and information. They assist libraries of all types to be relevant to the communities they serve.

IOUG - Illinois OCLS Users Group

The purpose of the Illinois OCLC Users' Group is to promote the use of the OCLC databases and related ILLINET/OCLC services for libraries and educational institutions for educational, literacy, scientific, and research purposes. IOUG provides training and continuing education programs; ensures participation of the Illinois users of OCLC in planning and implementing programs connected with OCLC in Illinois; serves as the means of organized input from Illinois users of OCLC to the manager of the ILLINET/OCLC office and the Illinois OCLC Program, and serves as a vehicle for communication concerning OCLC among users of OCLC and the Illinois OCLC Program.
 

ISLMA - Illinois School Library Media Association [Directories: Leadership]

ISLMA's mission is to promote life-long learning by the students of Illinois, ISLMA will provide leadership and support for the development, promotion, and improvement of school library media programs and the school library media profession in Illinois.

LACONI - Library Administrators Conference of Northern Illinois

LACONI is an educational volunteer organization offering membership to any library in our geographic area. Membership is by institution and includes unlimited staff from all areas of the library. The LACONI Salary Survey is an annual survey of public libraries in the Northern Illinois Area. Information included in the survey is not limited to staff salaries, but other comparative date: population served, square footage of facility, budget, tax rate, other staff compensation etc. It is a valuable tool for librarians and board members.

MLA - Midwest - Midwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association

The MLA is dedicated to improving the quality and leadership of the health information professional in order to foster the art and science of health information services.

NILRC - Network of Illinois Learning Resources in Community Colleges [Directories: Executive Committee | Members]

NILRC is one of the oldest community college learning resources cooperatives in the nation. Although it began as a grass roots organization to meet the basic needs of developing learning resources centers at community colleges, it has become a leader in the development and use of a variety of instructional resources and technologies. It was one of the first organizations to foster satellite teleconferencing and satellite delivery of video resource materials.

SLA Illinois - Special Libraries Association, Illinois [Directories: Leadership]

SLA is an international professional association representing nearly 15,000 information resource librarians. SLA members are employed by corporations, private companies, government agencies, technical and academic institutions, museums, medical facilities and information management consulting firms.
