Every library participating in the Opportunity Online hardware grants is eligible to have an unlimited number of staff, trustees, and supporters participating in Turning the Page Online and the Virtual Learning Lounge. These two options were developed to provide initial training for people that were unable to attend Turning the Page, and to enhance the learning experience of those that did attend.

Turning the Page Online is a complete online education program that mirrors the face-to-face conference. Each of the work sessions is presented in its entirety. The Virtual Learning Lounge is a social website developed to strengthen relationships and continue the learning experience for all participants as they continue their advocacy activities.

If a representative from your library did not attend turning the page IN DECATUR:
One person from your library, preferably the library director, must complete the online-learning advocacy symposium requirement.  The required coursework takes about 5 hours.  You can start, stop and resume at a later time.

WHICH COURSES ARE REQUIRED?
There are 7 sessions that you must complete.  Two sessions are required:  “Getting Started” (the first course) and “It’s a Wrap” (the final course).  In addition, you must complete 5 electives of your choice.

HOW DO I KNOW WHEN I AM FINISHED?
There is a tracking device that will keep you aware of your progress.  You will be able to print a certificate when you have completed the requirements.

WHAT IS MY DEADLINE?
All coursework must be completed by March 1, 2010.  This is also the date by which you need to have raised matching funds.  Grant award checks cannot be issued until all requirements of phase 1, including completing Turning the Page, have been met.

If you, staff, trustees, and supporters did attend turning the page IN DECATUR:
You have already met the advocacy training requirement, but you are welcome to continue the discussions and participate in sessions that you were not able to attend.   Take advantage of this opportunity!
