Illinet/OCLC
Two heads are better than oneILLINET stands for Illinois Library Information Network; OCLC stands for Online Computer Library Center. Together, the two have created a link to better serve libraries in Illinois. In 1977, the Illinois State Library received a Library Services and Construction Act grant to incorporate OCLC into the State Library organizational structure, resulting in the establishment of ILLINET/OCLC Services. Today, funding and administration of the program is included as part of the annual budget of the State Library. ILLINET/OCLC Services offers a variety of benefits for today's libraries. Workshops are held throughout the year. One-on-one training (for members willing to travel to Springfield) and distance learning opportunities are available throughout the year. They also partner with the Illinois OCLC Users' Group to provide workshops at nominal costs. Upcoming ILLINET/OCLC Workshops via WimbaThe ILLINET/OCLC Department of the Illinois State Library is pleased to present upcoming workshops covering a variety of subjects. These workshops are being presented in the NEW WebJunction conferencing system, Wimba. Wimba allows you to stay in the comfort of your own library and use your computer to access a variety of workshops designed to help you succeed. To maximize the efficiency of the system, you will need a headset and microphone ~ but you also have the ability to text message your questions in to the presenter. Here is the calendar for the next few months. Please feel free to contact ILLINET/OCLC Network Coordinators Debra Aggertt, 217.558.1945 or William Echelbarger, 217.524.6313 for a quick demonstrations, demonstration or suggestion for future workshops. |
