Illinois Libraries
Illinois Libraries: Learning, LeadingStarting in 1973, Illinois' regional library systems began the process of becoming multitype. This multitype model builds on all resources in every type of Illinois library to serve all residents. Illinois Library Systems along with the Illinois State Library promote this model of cooperation between libraries of all types (academic, public, school and special) and are the central location where multitype cooperation begins. Illinois libraries are known nationally for their level of excellence in service. The ILA Best Practices committee is collecting practices that represent this excellence in Illinois libraries and welcomes input on their blog from all types of library organizations.
