Desktop security software for Mac OS 10 ?
2:55 PM EDT 5/31/06
Can anyone recommend good desktop security software for Mac that supports newest versions of OS 10? Everything I found online seems to support up to OS 9 only. It is for a public library, we are going to purchase some new computers, most PCs, but also 2 Macs.
Thanks all...

Just coming on board, so forgive the "untimely" response. It's all relative. ;-)
At our library, which has 16 public access Macs and 5 Gates PCs, we use MacShield, by Centurion Technologies, which is in the list of security programs provided by the previous poster. We like it because you can set up a Mac OS X user account for public access (restricting what programs are allowed to run and turning on the appropriate privacy controls in your browsers), turn on the security, and whatever the patrons do to the computer--whatever files they download or save to the hard drive, whatever sites they visit, passwords they put in, etc.--will be deleted when the computer is rebooted. The computer is returned to the state it was in when the security was enabled. We've used it for a couple of years now with no loss due to patron interference with the computers, either intentional or inadvertent. (Full disclosure: Centurion also makes Centurion Guard and DriveShield, which work similarly well for Windows PC's--we use that, too.)
