It is my understanding that there have been major changes with FOIA. I'm wondering if the FOIA information included here reflects the recent changes. If not, will new information be available soon?

In an August 27, 2009 workshop document, Phillip Lenzini wrote "P.A. 96-0542, effective January 1, 2010, radically reshapes Illinois' Freedom of Information Act. Although not effective until next year, it will make essentially all past practices and surely any existing FOIA Policies which local governments have in place, obsolete. Between now and the first of the year, you will see more detailed articles and the revised, model policy recommendatrions for libraries wiill be available through the Admin. Ready Reference Revisited." Check this site over the next few months for updates.

Phillip Lenzini has written an article discussing these changes. It is available as a featured article - "The New Freedom of Information Act (P.A. 96-542)"

Also, new versions of "The Illinois Freedom of Information Act" policy and form examples, effective January 1, 2010, have been added under the Policies section of ARRR.
