Child in LibraryThe school library grant program, the first of its kind in the nation, is designed to help provide more library books and materials for the students of public schools in Illinois. The state legislature has authorized up to a $.75 per pupil expenditure for qualifying schools. Information on the next School Library Per Capita grant will be available in early Fall. Please check the Illinois State Library web site then for more updates.

  • Available to tax supported public school districts that are members of a regional library system
  • Announced each fall, due prior to December 1st and awarded after the first of the calendar year
  • Grants based upon a formula of approximately $ .75 per capita
  • Grant funds are used to support appropriate activities as listed in the application, including providing more library books and materials
  • State funded.
