The St. Charles Community College library (Missouri) is a recipient of a Library Outreach for Spanish Speakers grant and wants to better serve its English as a Second Language community. We would like to know what practices and/or policies other libraries in community college libraries/public libraries have regarding borrower privileges and what constitutes valid documentation before privileges are granted.
1. Do you require a current picture I.D. prior to granting borrower privileges? 2. Should the picture I.D. show a current address? 3. Do you allow use other types of documentation to verify the residential address? 4. What do you do when the wife seeks privileges, but her last name is different (Lopez) from her husbands last name (Garcia) and all bills mailed to the home show only the husbands last name?
Thanks, Stephanie Tolson
