During the week of Dec 3-7, the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) encourages managers and directors across organizations to recognize the importance of staff development during <a href="http://www.employeelearningweek.org/" target ="blank">Employee Learning Week</a>. If your library is participating in ELW this week, we encourage you to share your story here. We look forward to continuing the tradition next year and sharing your stories with the community!

I'd love to see more libraries in the 2008 Champions of Learning roster. Last year, there was one---PLCMC. They got a proclamation from the Mayor of Charlotte to declare a city-wide Employee Learning Week. Putting it in words that "workforce development is everyone's business" is a step in the right direction.

We're celebrating again this year, but we were not able to get a proclamation. It is really easy to participate. Last year we sent out an email each day of ELW highlighting a learning benefit that our library offers to staff. You can read copies of the emails here: http://librarytrainer.com/tag/elw2007/
